Our 2024 Charity Wrap-up: we did it!

It’s been a cracking year for our fundraiser for Brain Tumour Research.

We could waffle all we want about the amazing things we’ve done, but we thought it was better to let Han tell you what this year has been like, and what it means to her.

“I had a realization at midnight on New Years Eve 2023/2024 that we’d entered our first year that wouldn’t have Dad in it. It was a huge, sudden realization that knocked me for six if I’m totally honest and I couldn’t help but feel like I’d left him behind somehow.

The year overall has been huge for me. I got married without my dad. I got two promotions, and I couldn’t tell him. We had all the first anniversaries which for everyone, can be really tough! Fundraising for Brain Tumour Research this year has given me a really good reason to get up and go, stay focused and do something positive with this rubbish experience. It gave me a monthly opportunity to remember Dad, to talk and smile about him, laugh about him and remember the very best of him which I often shared with the people fundraising with me which would make them smile through it too.

I would not have had the strength to do that without the constant encouragement, buy-in, and dedication from the people around me. Every single member of our team at Sewell Wallis got involved somehow. Some financially, some practically, some both but there was a contribution from every single one of them and the collective efforts of everyone have completely humbled me. Our initial goal was £2k which was surpassed in April following just 4 months of raising money and tipped over by the mammoth effort of Chloe and Suliman cycling 80 miles for the cause. Our second goal of £5k was in sight following just one more month in May and 24 miles walked after our Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge with some huge donations by loved ones and clients. Now December is here and we’re touching distance to £5k, and I promise that I won’t get to 2025 without hitting that mark and making everybody’s efforts worthwhile.

To my team, you are all heroes to me. I promise to repay the miles you’ve all walked, the races you’ve run, the mountains you’ve climbed, and all the money you’ve raised, and I promise to do it with a smile. Thank you for everything.”

We’re so proud of Han and everything her and the rest of our team have achieved across 2024, and we’re happy to have supported such an important clause that means a lot to us as a business. Heading into 2025, we’ll be choosing a new charity to partner with, and we’re hopeful we’ll continue the momentum we gained over the course of this year! We can’t wait to see what crazy ideas we come up with 😊
