August wrap-up: what have we been up to?

Happy end of August! It’s wrap-up time again. What have we been up to in the last 30 days?

We’ve raised even more money for Brain Tumour Research, nearly £500 in August, creeping closer and closer to our £5,000 goal for 2024! If you’d like to read more about our fundraising efforts and add a donation to the pot, you can find out more here.

We hosted our annual Casino Night event for the students of Leeds Chartered Accountants Student Society (LCASS). We spent an evening at Victoria Gate Casino in Leeds, meeting accountancy students and those who’ve recently qualified for a night of networking, dinner and dice! We’re really grateful for the donations we received to our charity fundraiser too - thank you to everyone who took part in our raffle.

We partnered with Lauren Pickard from CMP Legal to get some sought after answers to questions people may have about the upcoming potential changes to employment law following the election earlier this year. Have a read here, and keep some space in your diary for our webinar discussing these changes early in the Autumn. You can email sue.wallis@sewellwallis.co.uk to register your interest.

We also published our first article with Insider looking at the changes that are coming in October!

We announced our sponsorship for one of the awards at this years Yorkshire Accountancy Awards, and the nominations are now open! You can put your colleagues and peers forward for an award here – the deadline is 25th October.

We held our own version of the Olympics in our offices, with Betsy being crowned top of the Leeds office, and Claire reigning supreme in the Sheffield office. Maybe we’ll have to pit them against each other for the ultimate gold medal?

August has been a good one! What are you looking forward to in September?
