Are you an Accounts Assistant looking to make the next step into an Assistant Accountant?

Sewell Wallis is delighted to be working on an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant with our client - a well-established and growing business in Huddersfield, North Yorkshire.

This role offers fantastic exposure to financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting, providing an excellent development path for an ambitious finance professional, and also offering study support towards ACCA or CIMA.


What will you be doing?

  • As the Assistant Accountant, you will assist in the preparation of forecasts, budgets and reconcile balance sheet account.
  • Assist in the creation of a variety of financial reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Perform detailed analysis and data mining to ensure the accuracy of reports.
  • Provide financial information on trends and forecasts to various teams.
  • Comply with financial accounting processes and procedures, maintaining high ethical standards.
  • Help foster a culture of continuous improvement and best practices.
  • Assist with transactional finance duties where necessary.
  • Support the wider team when required and when the Accountant is absent.

What skills are we looking for?

  • A strong background in finance and some exposure to the month end process.
  • Previous exposure to financial reporting, forecasting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach with a strong work ethic.
  • Someone able and willing to offer support to the wider finance team.
